and that was February.

It's the last day of February and we're one-sixth of the way through this year. Summer is at an end and as this day fades quietly away, I am reflecting on the month that was.

It's a month that's meant back to school. It's a month that has seen us parting with quite a lot of money. New uniforms. Lots of bills. Wedding outfits (not ours, our niece). New shoes, new dresses, new blazers. School camps, swimming lessons, violin lessons, tennis lessons, netball, touch football and more. Not to mention a hefty speeding fine. And just two nights ago we forked out on a snake catcher to come and remove and 2.5 metre python from the rafters of our deck.

It's been a month of busyness. School runs and helping out in classes. Work, extra-curricular stuff, a new Swiss student and the afore-mentioned wedding. Endless nit treatments and school lunch boxes. It's a month where I can't really find any lovely photos to share. Too busy getting through the day and planning for the next to stop and take a breath and appreciate what's around me. Too busy for my morning walks, a bike ride or a lap session in the local pool.

As of tomorrow, I shall aim to change all that. I plan to slow down, look around and take it easier.

Wish me luck!

I'm leaving you with a photo of PK and I from the wedding.

  1. That beautiful photo of you two again. I hope you're going to frame a print to hang in your home.
I hope March is a slower, less expensive month. Here's to cooler days, more bike rides and plenty of photo opportunities. x

    1. Haha yes, Zara; I'm so short on photos this month I'm re-using IG shots! I can't wait for the weather to cool down so I can get my energy mojo back.

  2. Such a beautiful photo! I just realised I had no idea what you looked like :-) I hope things settle down for you, the beginning of the school year is a bit nightmarish isn't it. The snake catchers come out and remove snakes for free down here, thankfully, since we've had to use them quite a bit x

    1. Hi Mel, yes, I'm camera shy, but I read a very good post recently about how not to be behind the camera all the time! And how it's important to be photographed with the kids/husband/family... also realised the tone of this post was rather whingy and poor me-ish, so decided to liven it up with a happy snap :-) PS got out on my bike today and down the beach twice, so my general mood is much improved!

  3. What a beautiful photo. I'm struck by how much your girls look like their dad, especially their eyes. I hope the school year gets off to a great start for everyone. Glad that snake is history!
